Lymphocyte Migration in the Adoptive Transfer of EAU
نویسنده
چکیده
may have been due to the repeated transfers. In later passages, cell growth slowed down (Fig. 2B). The addition of culture grade EGF to the medium resulted in an improved growth rate (Fig. 2D). Gospodarowicz et al observed similar but much greater effects on bovine endothelial cells. The lower response of murine EGF in this study may be due to the species difference. There has been increasing interest in the possibility of transplanting healthy corneal endothelial cells grown in tissue culture. Corneal endothelial cells growing in continuous culture could provide a valuable source of cells for in-vivo transplantation. In this study, baboon corneal endothelial cells were successfully grown on Descemet's membrane. This study clearly demonstrates the feasibility of establishing cell cultures from baboon corneal endothelium. With the help of mitogens, such as EGF, a sustained growth can be achieved in long-term tissue culture.

Lymphocyte migration in the adoptive transfer of EAU.
Experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis (EAU) was transferred into naive male Lewis rats using 1 X 10(8) indium-111 labeled lymphocytes from syngeneic donors immunized with S-antigen. The migration of the lymphocytes was monitored by gamma camera imaging and by determining the accumulation of radioactivity in selected organs. The majority of the cells leave the peritoneal cavity within 24 hr and ...

Although the recruitment of T helper cell type 1 (Th1)/Th2 cells into peripheral tissues is essential for inflammation and the host response to infection, the traffic signals that enable the distinct positioning of Th1/Th2 cells are unclear. We have determined the role of CC chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) in this using experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU) as a model system. In EAU, Th1-like cells...
متن کاملPertussis toxin inhibits induction of tissue-specific autoimmune disease by disrupting G protein-coupled signals.
Pertussis toxin (PTX) has been used for many years as an adjuvant that promotes development of tissue-specific experimental autoimmune diseases such as experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU), and others. Enhancement of vascular permeability and of Th1 responses have been implicated in this effect. Here we report a surprising observation that, in a prime...
متن کاملCryopexy enhances experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis (EAU) in rats.
Treatment of rat eyes with cryopexy enhanced the development of experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU) in these eyes. The enhancement of EAU by cryopexy was particularly pronounced when the disease was induced by active immunization in rats of a low responder strain (Wistar Furth), or by adoptive transfer with lymphocytes sensitized against S-antigen. The disease enhancement was expressed by ear...
متن کاملLymphopenia-induced proliferation is a potent activator for CD4+ T cell-mediated autoimmune disease in the retina.
To study retinal immunity in a defined system, a CD4+ TCR transgenic mouse line (betagalTCR) specific for beta-galactosidase (betagal) was created and used with transgenic mice that expressed betagal in retinal photoreceptor cells (arrbetagal mice). Adoptive transfer of resting betagalTCR T cells, whether naive or Ag-experienced, into arrbetagal mice did not induce retinal autoimmune disease (e...
